Financial Planning

Program Overview

The Financial Planning program will provide you with the opportunity to obtain an Ontario Graduate Certificate in the field of financial planning in two semesters. The program will provide you with all educational requirements to challenge the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam. The program uses instruction materials from professional bodies to deliver courses. Material license fees for the courses (and examination fees) are mandatory and in addition to the regular tuition fees.

 

PROFFESIONAL ASSOCIATION

Accreditations gained as a result of successful completion of courses and industry exams include:

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Wealth Management Essentials (WME)

 

Designations and licences that can be obtained as a result of completing preparatory courses and successfully writing the industry exams include:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CPF)

  • Compare, contrast and select financial products and services, investment planning and counselling services to clients, while adhering to industry standards

  •  Recognize potential tax and legal implications with a financial planning situation

 

 

CAREER OUTLOOK

 

A report by Toronto Board of Trade states that, with demographic changes and the need for regulation and associated with their studies and the CFP licence with:

  • Banks

  • Credit unions

  • Financial planning companies

  • Life Insurance companies

  • Mutual fund companies

  • Investments dealers

Note: Students planning to complete their Certified Financial Planner (CFP) license are recommended to complete FINA – 739 and FINA – 7489. Students who have completed CSC Preparation courses are required to take the identified options.
